Welcome to The Moose and The Mouse
My name is Rita Greene and I am the owner of The Moose and The Mouse. My story began in 1988 when someone encouraged me to take decorative painting classes with a local artist. I was instantly hooked. I continued my classes for the next ten years, my instructor would often have a Master Decorative Artist come to her studio to offer us seminars in more advanced painting techniques and color mixing. In 1998 my instructor moved to California, however I continued to paint at home creating gifts for family and friends, and items to decorate our new home my husband I had purchased.
Fast forward to 2017, I had recently recovered from my 2 year battle with pancreatic cancer. I am happy to say that I am 3 years cancer free, and on my way to beating the 7%, 5 year survival rate. I had been away from my painting during that time, and I started to pick up the paintbrushes again. Dealing with depression that often accompanies a cancer diagnosis my painting became therapeutic. With the encouragement of my husband of 23 years and our 2 daughters, Melissa 21 and Emily 19, I created The Moose and The Mouse.
